Julie Bowen

Nominee Image for Julie Bowen

Nomination:

A primetime presence for virtually the entire first decade of the new millennium, actress Julie Bowen found her niche in comedy/drama hybrids that cast her as the straight-woman to hijinks-prone leading men. Her role as a small town teacher opposite a bowling alley-owning lawyer (Tom Cavanagh) on “Ed” (NBC, 2000-04) set the precedent for her future runs as put-upon girlfriends and wives on “Boston Legal” (ABC, 2004-08), and the fall 2009 breakout, “Modern Family” (ABC, 2009- ), in which she anchored the wacky ensemble as the relatable mom-next-door.

Wow Tom Sawyer, get a grip. Whie it's hard to single out individual performances in an ensemble show, Julie Bowen plays her part perfectly. Just when you find it hard to believe she would be married to such a doofus as Phil, she shows that she too can be his equal in bad decision making and general goofiness. Congrats Julie, well deserved!

She might be sweet on a personal basis, but if she's not funny & almost no one here seems to know or have noticed who she is, from almost no comments posted about her, then it's apparent she can't be that funny and didn't deserve this Emmy whatsoever. I didn't even know she was in Modern Family til I read this site, her lame lines escaped me, clear robbery of the Emmy from rightful owner Sofi
