Game of Thrones

Nominee Image for Game of Thrones

Nominations:

George R.R. Martin's best-selling book series "A Song of Ice and Fire" is brought to the screen as HBO sinks its considerable storytelling teeth into the medieval fantasy epic. It's the depiction of two powerful families -- kings and queens, knights and renegades, liars and honest men -- playing a deadly game for control of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, and to sit atop the Iron Throne. Martin is credited as a co-executive producer and one of the writers for the series, which was filmed in Northern Ireland and Malta.

I have read all five books in Martin's "Fire and Ice" series and have loved each and every one. The t.v. adaptation, I think, was as good as such things can be. Uncommonly good!!

Started watching this series because it looked interesting. Didn't fail me there! Have the books and have read the first three. Although I would love to see this one win, I don't think it will simply because anything I like never wins because I don't have mainstream tastes. But this one is fabulous...can't wait for the new season!

Fantastic series..great job HBO! Actors are wonderful and fit the authors' description to a tee! If you haven't read all the books, it's a MUST...I'm on my second time thru and in book 4. Waiting to read book 5, but my husband is reading it! Great, GREAT! GO HBO!

  • Blog: Star Maker or Doorstop? Emmy Winners on the Value of the Award

Are Melissa McCarthy and Peter Dinklage now household names? The plus-sized actress walked off with the Emmy for outstanding lead actress in a comedy series, beating out veteran funny women, including past winners Edie Falco ("Nurse Jackie") and Tina Fey ("30 Rock").
