The Office

The Office

A fly-on-the-wall "docu-reality" parody about modern American office life, "The Office" delves into the lives of the workers at Dunder Mifflin paper supply company in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Regional manager Michael Scott (Golden Globe winner and Emmy nominee Steve Carell, "Get Smart," "Little Miss Sunshine") is a single, middle-aged man who is the boastful tour guide for the documentary. His staff includes his arrogant, driven kiss-up assistant; a likable but bored sales rep who amuses himself by getting on the assistant's nerves; and the personable receptionist who bears the brunt of the boss' bad jokes. more »

30 Rock

30 Rock

[ EXPERT PICK ]

Liz Lemon is the female head writer of a nighttime live sketch/variety/comedy program called "TGS With Tracy Jordan." She struggles with keeping Tracy Jordan, the show's unpredictable star, and Jack Donaghy, the nosy network executive, in check, while dealing with the rest of the staff's antics and attempting to salvage her own personal life. For every semi-successful, geeky chick out there who eats through her pain and considers her job her real life, you have a modern hero in Liz Lemon. And for every corporate-talk-loving, conservative dude out there with his eye on the big prize, you have a new role model in boss man Jack Donaghy. Not afraid to mix stupid with clever in all the best places, "30 Rock" is a comedy that makes us laugh out loud, then rewind and laugh out loud again, then recount the LOL moments with our best friends and laugh out loud again. Thank you, TV, for the gift of Tina Fey. more »

Weeds

Weeds

A widowed suburban mother determinedly keeps up appearances in her idyllic community, whose residents remain oblivious to the fact that she's the source of the high-quality marijuana that's suddenly flooded the neighborhood. In Season 2, Nancy evolved into a true business woman from her humble beginnings as a dealer. She struggled to meet her obligations to her family and her new found "career." Her questionable choices continued to play havoc with her life. Last season, viewers saw Nancy venture from hesitant but determined toe-dipper in the unpredictable waters of drug dealing to confident, full-fledged queen-pin entrepreneur. But with each promotion on the crime ladder, the danger and threat to her family has increased exponentially, especially with her son Silas now in the family business. In the third season's cliffhanger, Agrestic and the neighboring mega-church community Majestic, along with Nancy's customer base, were hit by wildfires and were rapidly burning to the ground, along with the Botwin home. more »

If you haven't completely blocked out last year's debacle of an Emmy presentation (during which five reality hosts took turns doling out hokey lines), and you caught any of this year's show hosted by the charming Neil Patrick Harris, then you know: What a difference a year makes. more »
